Access Permits, Hamina

Moving in the Port area is allowed only if you have an access permit granted by the Port or other authority empowered by the Port. Anyone trying to access or move in the area must produce ID when asked.

People working in or visiting the Port can obtain their access permit from the company they work for or the company they are visiting. An access permit is usually individual, with vehicle-based permits for heavy vehicles.

The companies in the Port have the opportunity to insert an access permit beforehand into the access permit system, in which case entering the port is flexible and does not require stopping at the gate. Vehicles arriving without advance notice are required to get clearance from the gate control.

Identification at the Gate

Identification Based on Vehicle Registration Number

A vehicle’s registration number is saved in the system and the registration plate is recognised automatically at the gate. If a vehicle’s access permit is cleared, the gate opens. Automatic identification is possible if the registration plate is undamaged and clean.

Deposit Identification

Companies operating in the port area have the opportunity to claim their permanent employees deposit identification devices, which are individual and can be used in various vehicles. The identification device also gives access to the pedestrian and bicycle gate. The gate reads the device for 3 seconds. If the identification device is activated in the system, the gate opens. The devices have a 5-year operating time.

Permit Expiration

  • A one-time permit authorises a single entry into the port area.
  • A fixed-term permit expires when a maintenance contract or other contract expires.
  • Permits valid for an indefinite time expire after one year. As the permit expires, its information is examined and when necessary, the permit is continued.

Each client or vehicle is the responsibility of the company they’re visiting as they move inside the Port area. The driver of a vehicle is responsible for the passengers arriving in their vehicle to the Port area.
